Young Women Empowerment Program Young Women Empowerment Program
The Trust became aware of the need of such a program through out its active role in Jerusalem. Our social workers have made several home visits to serve various programs and after the studies made we found out that there is a part of this community who was not yet involved in our activities.
In 1998 we started to work with young women in order to: Raise their self-awareness. - Enrich them with leadership skills. - Strengthen their personality and self-confidence. - Create a positive and a leading role in the community. - Giving the drop-outs a chance to carry on their education. These young women didn’t have the chance to continue their school studies, although they have potential like the rest of all of us, but they were not allowed to discover and develop their abilities. Through our work we have succeeded to gain the trust of the young women’s parents who now accept the idea of having their daughters go out of the house to learn, work and get enrolled in our programs and activities. The program has developed largely, in Jerusalem some of the young women from this program and other new ones are now involved in our learn-by-play programs in Jerusalem and the Negev. In Ramle we opened a day care centre for younger women ages 13+ to offer them a warm and loving environment in a preventive and developmental program, where the young women from the first program will act as their older sisters. The young women at all areas are volunteering in different and diversified community activities.
